In the beginning was the Word. It may seem irreverent but there's not such intent in this post. While I keep a blog about general questions and such, this will be home to an ImagiNation I'm working on. For the rare visitor who doesn't still now what I'm talking about, ImagiNations are fictitious, imaginary countries set either in (pseudo) historical Europe or an imaginary version of her usually, although every location on Earth can be the subject of an ImagiNation treatment.
The XVIIIth century is the leading period by far referring to ImagiNations. There seems to be something about that which attracts people like moths to the light. For one, there is the sheer diversity of states, while expansive, big countries were somehow still in a kind of beginner stage, still not bent on territorial homogenity but being more of a collection of lands with a common ruling monarch or body. At least, even the very few examples of states which had started to encompass other nations into territorial unions were fragile enough structures as to change because of political upheaval, dynastic switching or conflicts, uprisings and generally as a result of wars of diverse nature.
So it will be the XVIIIth century the times which this blog will focus on, well after the War of Spanish Succession as there is already an excellent blog covering that specifical period, the Defiant Principality "ruled" by the notable Msr. Lluís Vilalta (you can see the link in a sidebar in this very blog). The ins and outs of this ImagiNation will be talked of as will obviusly be her diplomatic and military matters and encounters both with inner and outer rivals and enemies.
Don't want to come to an end before advising the dear reader that the world this ImagiNation is set in is like our own but not quite. Although in a civilized time, an age of reason, the world is a thrilling place plenty of grim spots, where the supernatural still is and goes rampant every so often; strange beings haunt dense forests and the wild jungles and mighty mountain ranges are home to unknown or lost in time sites and creatures. The sea still harbors amazing creatures and rare phenomena. All this make travel hazardous and life exciting if sometimes gloomy.

Al principi era la Paraula. Pot semblar irreverent, però no hi ha tal intenció en aquest post. Encara que mantinc un bloc sobre qüestions generals i similars, aquesta serà la llar d'una ImagiNació a la que estic treballant. Pel visitant estranyat que no sàpiga encara ara de què estic parlant, les ImagiNacions són països ficticis, imaginaris, situats ja sia a una (pseudo) històrica Europa o a una versió imaginària d'aquesta, encara que qualsevol lloc a la Terra pot ser objecte da tractament com a ImagiNació.
El segle XVIII és el període preferit, amb molt, referint-se a les ImagiNacions. Sembla que hi ha quelcom que atreu a la gent com arnes a la llum. D'una banda, hi ha la diversitat dels estats, mentre que els països expansius, grans, eren d'alguna manera encara en una espècie d'etapa primària, encara no entestats a l'homogeneïtat territorial, sinó més aviat d'un conjunt de terres amb un monarca o un cos de govern comú. Si més no, fins i tot els pocs exemples d'estats que havien començat a annexionar altres nacions en unions territorials eren fràgils estructures susceptibles de canviar a causa de l'agitació política, el canvi o conflictes dinàstics, les revoltes i, en general, com a resultat de guerres de diversa índole.
De forma que serà el segle XVIII els temps en que aquest bloc se centrarà, força més tard de la Guerra de Successió espanyola, ja que hi ha un excel·lent blog què cobreix aquest període, el Defiant Principality "governat" per l'insigne Msr. Lluís Vilalta (es pot veure l'enllaç en una barra lateral d'aquest bloc). Es tractarà ací sobre els detalls d'aquesta ImagiNació i també es parlarà òbviament dels seus afers diplomàtics i militars i els seus enfrontaments amb els seus rivals i els seus enemics interns i externs.
No vull arribar a la fi abans d'aconsellar a l'estimat lector que el món on se situa aquesta ImagiNació és com el nostre, però no del tot. Encara que en un temps civilitzat, una edat de la raó, el món és un lloc bastant emocionant amb indrets tèrbols, on el sobrenatural encara és rampant i es deslliura de tant en tant, on éssers estranys sotgen els densos boscos i on selves salvatges i poderoses muntanyes són la llar de llocs i criatures desconeguts o perduts en el temps. El mar encara conserva criatures sorprenents i rars fenòmens. Tot això fa perillosos els viatges i la vida emocionant si de vegades llòbrega.
